Greening Your Home Business—Practical Actions That Make a Difference

Running a business from home offers flexibility, freedom—and a unique opportunity to lead with intention. As a member of my town’s Green Team, and a home-based green business owner myself, I know firsthand how small, thoughtful, green actions can create meaningful impact.

That’s why I created this checklist for home-based businesses. Whether you’re a designer, coach, maker, or solopreneur, this initiative is designed to help you integrate green practices in achievable, value-aligned ways.

I’ve organized the program around eight key areas of sustainability:

Energy Waste

Water Building + Landscape Pollution Prevention

Social Responsibility Local Community Transportation

These areas help encompass the 3 "P" principles of sustainability: People, Planet, Profit.

Each area has ideas tailored to what’s realistic in a home setting. You’ll find simple swaps, mindful habits, and a few deep-dive options—because no matter your space or schedule, sustainability should feel approachable and rewarding.
