Environmental awareness is becoming increasingly important in today's world as we continue to face numerous environmental challenges including climate change, pollution, habitat loss, and efforts to sell our public lands and roll back environmental protections. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless in the face of these problems, but there are many small steps we can take to make a positive impact on the environment.

One of the easiest ways to become more environmentally aware is to educate yourself. Learn about the issues facing our environment, like the effects of climate change on our planet, the impact of pollution on our air and water, and the importance of preserving biodiversity. Once you have a basic understanding of the issues, you can begin to make changes in your own life to reduce your impact on the environment.
One simple step is to reduce your use of single-use plastics, such as plastic bags and straws. Instead, bring reusable bags and bottles with you when you go out, and consider investing in a reusable straw. These small changes can have a big impact when we all do them together. Saying no to one straw may seem really small, but small actions add up. Straws are in the top 5 trash items found on beaches.
Switching to a reusable water bottle will save 150+ bottles from hitting the landfill in a year.
Switching to reusable, earth-friendly material shopping bag just makes sense. You can hold so much more in the bag, I have used the same bags for almost 15 years, think about all the plastic bags I would have used in that amount of time!
Another way to be more environmentally aware is to support sustainable practices, such as buying organic and locally-grown produce, and choosing products that are made with environmentally-friendly materials. You can also support companies that are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and protecting the environment. Some of our favorite earth-friendly materials include: hemp, linen and organic cotton. Eating seasonally means I am providing the most nutrient dense versions of fruits and veggies to my family.
Finally, it's important to spread the word and encourage others to become more environmentally aware as well. Talk to your friends and family about the importance of protecting the environment, and share your own experiences and tips for reducing your impact.
You can also get involved in local environmental organizations or community groups that are working to protect the environment.
Becoming more environmentally aware is a simple but important step we can all take to help protect the planet. By educating ourselves, making small changes in our daily lives, supporting sustainable practices, and spreading the word, we can all make a positive impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
